This stage-bound farce could easily be an American sitcom: It's all slamming doors, eavesdropping and stupid miscommunications, garnished with a heavy-handed helping of comedy of humiliation.

Although I love many French directors and films This film is a thousand times better than the remake and so funny. It is hard not to laugh at all of the silly plot turns and I feel like I would be his friend laughing and his friends misfortune. Brimming with people who tread on the weak and those void of worldly ambitions. Pierre does so willingly and with subtle strokes of cruelty that rule his life. A short sighted, solely focused man of abundant materialism and self gratification.
